911 Enable Helps Organizations Meet New Massachusetts E911 Legislation

E911 solution allows organizations to provision locations down to the floor, room and cubicle level

Montreal, QC – September 23, 2009 – 911 Enable, a division of Connexon Telecom, announced today its continued commitment to helping organizations in the state of Massachusetts comply with new E911 legislation.

As of July 1, 2009, Massachusetts’ E911 legislation requires organizations to provide a callback number and the caller’s precise location to the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) when 911 is dialed. Specific location requirements vary depending on organization type:

Businesses and Government Agencies: Location information must include the street address, building, and floor location of the caller. These locations cannot exceed 22,500 sf in size.
Hotels and Motels: For hotels/motels with more than 20 units used for sleeping, the caller’s location must include the street address and a unit identifier.
Schools: The caller’s location must include the street address and room number.

911 Enable helps organizations comply with these requirements in a simple and cost-effective manner. At a minimum, locations can be provisioned to the floor level, but may also be specified to the room or cubicle level. This ensures that any organization in Massachusetts, or elsewhere in the US, can comply with its legislated obligations.

“By enacting this legislation, the state of Massachusetts has shown that it is serious about the safety of its citizens,” said Lev Deich, Director of 911 Enable. “911 Enable is committed to helping organizations in the state of Massachusetts and across the US implement a cost-effective and complete E911 solution which ensures the safety of the entire workforce.”
